In an effort to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month, Barnes and Noble and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) invites you to participate in the 24th Annual African American Read-in!
The African American Read-In and Poetry Slam will feature a book written by a prominent African-American author followed by recitations of selected pieces composed by African-American poets. Featured speakers and poets include community members, authors, students representing the Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana School District 116, members representing Black Greek Organizations, and the National Council of Teachers of English. Audience members will also have an opportunity to share poetry. To find out how you can host a read-in visit http://www.ncte.org/action/aari.
