Start Date: Oct. 11, 2012

This month, the library's Cover-to-Cover discussion group gets in the CU Reading spirit by reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This nostalgic tale of 19th-century Midwestern boyhood, written with adult readers in mind and filled with Mark Twain’s iconic characters, wry wit, and timeless social commentary. Join in a community discussion of Twain’s first novel, published in 1876—the same year the Champaign Public Library was established, and just two years after the birth of The Urbana Free Library.
The CU Reading program encourages everyone in Champaign-Urbana to read and discuss the same book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. CU Reading is co-sponsored by the Champaign Public Library and The Urbana Free Library, with support from the Champaign Public Library Friends and the Friends of The Urbana Free Library.
Five opportunities to discuss the book will be offered; see http://www.champaign.org/tomsawyer/events for a complete list of dates and times.
