A FREE self-care course discussing matters of the heart and vascular system where you can have your questions answered about the diagnosis and risk factors of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, and heart failure.
This two-part class is offered on Wed. November 14 and Wed. November 21 from 12:00pm-2:30pm each day at the Provena Center for Healthy Aging (410 E. University Ave., Champaign).
At the first class on 11/14, a Registered Nurse will discuss risk factors for cardiovascular disease and provide practical strategies for reducing risk factors. In addition, information on exercising safely with cardiovascular disease is provided. The last half of the class concludes with a physician discussing types of cardiovascular disease, symptoms, causes of symptoms, and techniques/treatments for controlling symptoms.
At the second class on 11/21, a Registered Pharmacist will discuss the benefits, side effects, and interactions of cardiovascular-related medications. Please bring a medication list for the question and answer session. The class concludes with a Registered Dietician demonstrating heart-healthy cooking ideas and samples.
