St. Joseph Girl Scout troops #2138 & #2027 will be holding a collection drive benefiting Champaign County Head Start. Donations of new or gently used coats, along with new socks, underwear, hats & mittens, will be collected in front of the Wal-Mart in Urbana.
Our troops wanted to do a community service event, and we thought it only appropriate to have our kids help other kids! We will have tables set up outside for 6 hours on Saturday, December 15th, 9AM-3PM.(Don't worry! The girls will work in shifts - no frozen
noses or toes here!)
Please stop by with your donation! With every coat you donate, your name will be entered into a drawing to win 5 FREE BOXES OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!
Champaign County Head Start programs have funded child enrollment of 435 – 3 to 5 year olds and 149 – birth to 3 years including pregnant women. From 9/1/2011 to 8/31/2012, the program served 763 children, birth through 5 years and pregnant women. Of the 763 children, 34 experienced homelessness and 62 were in foster care placements.
No person should be without warm clothing during the winter; especially a child. Please stop by and see our Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. Your donation will be greatly appreciated!
