Enhance your westward-movement curriculum with this 2-part class. Through primary documents, exhibits, discussion, and activities, you will gain new perspective on this event in our history. If you have participated in our settler course, this is a great follow-up for 8-15 year-olds. Chronologically, it ends with the Civil War period, which will be offered next spring. (Participation in any one of these classes is not dependent on having taken any of the others.) This class will be held in two parts, and you will be expected to attend both days; part 2 is on Nov. 13. There will be a homework assignment to complete between classes. It is designed for children age 8 and up, with parental accompaniment suggested. $8 per child covers both days and materials. Registration and payment is due Oct. 30.
