Polyurethane Coatings and Benefits - Polyurethane coatings provide a smooth finishing to any surface and protect against corrosion, chemicals, and abrasion. Also used in waterproofing, field repair, for coating high build epoxy and inorganic zinc, for synthetic sports surface and other industrial applications.
The wood deck is a valuable extension of a beautiful home. Polyurethane Coatings ensure its durability and longevity, providing a smooth finish.
More about Polyurethane Coatings - Polyurethane Coatings are fully texturable and are available in different varieties of gloss. They provide a high-quality finish to any surface, excellent stain and chemical resistance, hardness and adhesion, protection against many lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and cutting oils. These properties make them a good option for wood deck coatings.
It usually has two components - isocyanate-rich solution and polyol-rich solution, defined as ASTM D16 Type V polyurethane coating. A polyurethane coating film a formed when these two components are combined when a rapid and exothermic chemical polymerization reaction occurs.
The term '100% solids' means that the coating does not use any solvent to dissolve carry or reduce any of the coating resins. The resins are normally in a liquid state and turn to a 100%, solid film after applying. The coating system's viscosity depends on the selection and design of resin components and not by the addition of a solvent, though solvents are usually used to reduce the thickness. So, a good chemist can design a 100% solids polyurethane coating system with a very low viscosity (or any low viscosity) without using any solvents.
Type of Polyurethane Coatings - Of different late types of polyurethane coatings are available in the market. Some of them are - floor coatings, polyurethane, conformal polyurethane coatings, stainless steel polyurethane coatings. They can also use in plastic and polymer industries and other industrial sectors depending on the purposes.
Storage and Handling - Do not refrigerate or freeze. The container needs to be closed if not using. Use with enough ventilation. Keep away from the eye and skin contact. Hands and the tools used for coatings have to be washed thoroughly immediately after applying, with warm water. Avoid keeping it on windows, cars, and furniture.
If it comes into eye contact, flush and clean the eye with clean water for at least 15 minutes and contact your physician. In case of ingestion, drink water, but vomiting should not an induced. It should a kept out of reach of children and pets. Read the safety guidelines on the package label and the Material Safety Data Sheets supplied with the product and follow them accordingly.
